The simplest answer: choose the all-stop AREX plus Seoul Subway Line 4 if price matters, an airport limousine bus if you have large luggage, or an official taxi if you arrive late or are traveling as a group.

AREX single-use tickets cost ₩100 more than the operator’s card fare and require a refundable ₩500 deposit. International Taxi fixed fares include tolls and have no late-night surcharge; ordinary taxis use the meter and may add a night surcharge.

Where is Myeongdong?
Myeongdong is split by Myeongdong Station on the south side and Euljiro 1-ga/Lotte Department Store on the north side. Check your hotel address before choosing a bus stop. A stop with “Myeongdong” in its name may still be a 10–15 minute walk from your room.
If an English hotel name returns several pins, use the Korean address and NAVER Map search workflow before choosing a bus stop or station exit.

Option 1: AREX All-Stop + Line 4
This is usually the best-value route. It is not the same train as the orange AREX Express.

- After immigration and baggage claim, follow the Airport Railroad signs to the Transportation Center on B1.
- Buy an all-stop ticket or use a compatible Korean transport card. From Terminal 1 the current AREX fare to Seoul Station is ₩4,750; from Terminal 2 it is ₩5,350.
- Ride to Seoul Station. The operator lists 59 minutes from T1 and 66 minutes from T2, although some services take a few minutes longer.
- Follow signs for Subway Line 4. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes for the indoor walk, gates and elevators.
- Take Line 4 toward Jinjeop. After Hoehyeon, get off at Myeongdong, the second stop.
First and last useful trains
- T1 toward Seoul Station: 05:14 first / 23:38 last through train.
- T2 toward Seoul Station: 05:08 first / 23:32 last through train.
Later trains shown at 23:56 from T1 and 23:50 from T2 terminate at Digital Media City, before Hongik University and Seoul Station. Do not treat them as a direct last train to Myeongdong.
Option 2: AREX Express + Line 4
The AREX Express runs nonstop to Seoul Station, has reserved seats and dedicated tickets. The current adult fare is ₩13,000 and the child fare is ₩9,500. It takes 43 minutes from T1 or 51 minutes from T2. The current first/last departures are 05:24/22:48 from T1 and 05:16/22:40 from T2.
At Seoul Station you still need to walk to Line 4 and buy or tap a separate metro fare. Because of the transfer and the wait for the next Express, a soon-departing all-stop train can sometimes get you to your hotel just as quickly. Choose the Express for the reserved seat and predictable airport-to-Seoul segment, not automatically for the fastest hotel arrival.
Option 3: Airport Limousine 6015 or 6001
The bus is the easiest choice with large luggage when your hotel is near a stop. Airport-to-Seoul tickets are sold at airport ticket offices or vending machines; there is no online reservation for this direction.
6015: choose the correct Myeongdong stop
- Buy a 6015 ticket before boarding. The current fare is ₩17,000 for adults and ₩12,000 for children age 6–12.
- At T2, go to B1 Stop 28. At T1, go to 1F Stop 5B-2.
- For hotels on the north side of Myeongdong, compare the Lotte Hotel / IBIS Myeong-dong stop. For the south side, compare Myeong-dong Station (L7 / Sejong Hotel).
- Show the hotel name and map pin to the driver if you are unsure.
Current 6015 airport departures:
- T2: weekdays 05:19–22:59; weekends/holidays 05:24–22:59.
- T1: weekdays 05:39–23:19; weekends/holidays 05:44–23:19.
6001: useful for the south side
Bus 6001 also serves Myeong-dong Station after Seoul Station and Hoehyeon. It boards at T2 B1 Stop 29 or T1 1F Stop 5B-4 and uses the same ₩17,000/₩12,000 fare. Compare your hotel pin with both 6001 and 6015 before buying.
Do not plan around a guaranteed bus arrival time. The operator publishes departure times but warns that road, traffic and weather conditions affect service. A practical estimate is roughly 75–100 minutes to central Myeongdong, but that is an editorial planning range, not an operator guarantee.
Option 4: Taxi
Use only the official taxi queue at your terminal. Incheon Airport’s guide lists designated stands and warns passengers to avoid illegal solicitation.
- Official International Taxi to Jung-gu/Myeongdong, Zone C: ₩85,000 sedan or ₩120,000 SUV/van/deluxe. These fixed fares include tolls and do not add a late-night surcharge.
- Ordinary Seoul taxi: metered. The current base fare is ₩4,800 and a 20–40% late-night surcharge may apply from 22:00 to 04:00.
A taxi becomes more reasonable when three or four people split the fare, when you have several large bags, or when your flight arrives after the last practical rail or bus connection.
Terminal ticketing checklist
- T1 limousine staffed counters are near Gates 4, 6, 9 and 11 on 1F; machines are also available around Gates 4, 7, 8 and 11.
- T2 staffed counters are on B1 toward the west short-term parking area; machines are around the B1 waiting area, bus platforms and AREX entrance.
- Limousine vending machines operate 24 hours, including for night buses.
- The standard free luggage allowance is up to two pieces per ticket, each under 20 kg and under 160 cm when length, width and height are added. Excess baggage may cost up to 50% of the passenger fare per piece.
Common mistakes
- Taking AREX Express without checking the connection: it saves time only to Seoul Station; you still transfer to Line 4.
- Choosing a bus by the word “Myeongdong” alone: compare the hotel map pin with the exact stop.
- Following a solicitor: use airport signs, official ticket counters and designated taxi stands.
- Ignoring the transfer walk: Seoul Station is large. Travelers with heavy bags may prefer the bus.
- Relying on a screenshot months later: use our image to recognize the interface, then confirm the live official page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy an airport limousine ticket online?
Not for the airport-to-Seoul direction. Buy it from an airport ticket office or vending machine before boarding.
Is the AREX Express always faster?
No. It is faster to Seoul Station, but waiting for it and walking to Line 4 can erase the advantage. Compare the next departure shown when you arrive.
Which Myeongdong exit should I use?
It depends on the hotel. Open the hotel in Google Maps and check the walking route before choosing an exit; elevators are not available at every staircase.
What should I do after the last train?
Check the current limousine timetable first. If no useful service remains, use an official taxi stand rather than accepting a ride offer in the terminal.
