The short answer: after a late flight, first check the time you will actually exit customs—not the scheduled landing time. If a normal train or hotel bus still works, take it. Otherwise choose the night bus that reaches the correct part of Seoul, use the designated taxi stand, or sleep near the airport and travel after the morning service begins.

A 22:00 landing can turn into a much later terminal exit after taxiing, immigration, baggage and customs. Check transport again only after you have your bag and know whether you are at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

Incheon Airport currently lists Seoul night buses N6000, N6002, N6701 and N6703 from both terminals, with different stops and departure times. Schedules can change without matching old blog screenshots, so open the official T1 or T2 page before walking to a bay.
Make the decision in this order
- Identify the terminal: T1 and T2 use different floors and bus bays.
- Check normal service: a flight after 22:00 does not automatically mean the normal train has finished.
- Match a night-bus stop to the hotel: the route name is only a corridor, not a promise of door-to-door access.
- Price the final transfer: a cheap night bus plus a long taxi can be worse than one airport taxi.
- Keep a sleep-near-airport option: this is often sensible after a delay, with children or before a morning domestic connection.

These are route corridors. A bus to “Hongdae” or “Seoul Station” may still leave you on the wrong side of the district for your hotel. Save the exact Korean address with the NAVER Map address workflow, then compare the stop-to-hotel leg.
Terminal 1: where to begin
Incheon Airport’s current page lists the Seoul late-night boarding area on the first-floor arrivals level. Older consolidated airport notices can show different route labels or boarding bays, so use the current terminal-specific page and the bay printed on your ticket as final.
The published T1 schedule includes departures across the midnight-to-early-morning window rather than one single “last bus.” Do not copy one departure into your itinerary weeks in advance. Recheck the operator page after collecting your baggage.
Terminal 2: go to the Transportation Center
For Terminal 2, the airport places the night buses in the B1 Transportation Center. The current airport notice lists N6002 at bay 24, N6701 at bay 18 and N6703 at bay 19, but use the live page and ticket because the boarding assignment can change.
The current T2 schedule begins some route cycles before midnight and continues with later departures. A broad “after 10 PM” search is therefore not enough. The useful question is: which service remains after I exit this terminal?
How to buy the night-bus ticket
- Photograph or save your terminal and hotel address before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Open the official terminal-specific night-bus page.
- Confirm the route, destination stop, next departure and boarding bay.
- Buy the ticket at the official booth or machine. Follow the operator’s current app option only when the route page explicitly lists it.
- Ask staff to confirm the stop if the English name and Korean map name differ.
- Keep the ticket and load claim information until you receive your suitcase at the city stop.

When a taxi is the better choice
Take a taxi when no night bus serves the correct corridor, when the bus-to-hotel transfer would be difficult, or when several travelers can share the door-to-door cost. Use the official taxi stand only. Incheon Airport specifically warns about illegal solicitation and overcharging by vehicles posing as taxis.
The airport’s current guide lists night surcharges between 22:00 and 04:00. For standard Seoul-bound taxis, the published surcharge varies by time band and can reach 40% between 23:00 and 02:00. Road tolls and traffic can also affect the total. Ask for the meter and keep the receipt.
- Show the driver the Korean hotel address and phone number.
- Confirm that the destination is in Seoul and that the meter will be used, unless you deliberately booked an official flat-fare international taxi.
- Keep bags with you until the official vehicle is identified.
- Check the receipt before leaving; it helps with lost-property follow-up.
When to stay near Incheon Airport
Sleeping near the airport can be the rational choice when a delayed arrival leaves only a short night, when children or mobility needs make a complex transfer unsafe, or when you must return to the airport for a morning flight. Compare the room price with the night taxi surcharge and the value of arriving rested.
Do not book only from an English hotel name. Confirm whether the property is inside a terminal, in the airport transportation center, in the airport new town around Unseo, or elsewhere on Yeongjong Island. Those are different locations with different shuttle or taxi needs.
Prepare connectivity before leaving the terminal
A late arrival is the worst time to discover that a cheap travel eSIM has no usable Korean number or failed to activate.
