Korean Convenience Store 1+1: Deals, Ice Cups & Ramen

A 1+1 sign does not mean one bottle costs half price. For a qualifying offer, take two eligible items to checkout; for 2+1, take three. Korean convenience store promotions depend on the exact product and offer conditions. Confirm the total before paying, and do not assume an ice cup, different flavor or app-only benefit is included.

One plus one and two plus one quantities

Checked September 9, 2026. This guide explains the purchase process, not a live price list. GS25’s official promotion information distinguishes 1+1, 2+1 and extra-gift offers and warns that product conditions and participating stores vary.

What Korean convenience store 1+1 and 2+1 mean

Shelf sign Take to the cashier Expected structure
1+1 Two eligible items Buy one and receive the qualifying extra item.
2+1 Three eligible items Buy two and receive the qualifying third item.
Extra gift / 덤증정 The stated qualifying purchase The gift may be a different product; check conditions.
App or payment benefit Products plus the required account or payment method A separate eligibility rule, not an ordinary shelf-price promise.

For example only, if one qualifying drink is ₩2,000, a straightforward 1+1 offer gives two for ₩2,000 total. A straightforward 2+1 offer gives three for ₩4,000. Buying only one normally does not give the same per-item saving. Actual register rules control the transaction; the numbers here are not a current advertised price.

Read the small product name and size next to the promotion. Two drinks from the same brand may have different barcodes, volumes or eligible flavors. Mixed flavors are acceptable only when the offer allows that combination. Compare the items in your hand with the label instead of assuming that anything on the shelf belongs to it.

The GS25 promotion entry point may redirect to the current GS25 brand site. Use its current product information and the branch’s shelf labels together. An old screenshot from a previous month cannot confirm today’s offer.

Get the discount without a checkout surprise

Product and promotion label checklist
  1. Check the dates. Look for the offer period and whether the shop is participating. A price card next to a product is not proof that an expired offer still works.
  2. Pick the full qualifying quantity. Bring both items for 1+1 or all three for 2+1. Do not expect the cashier to leave the counter and collect your extra item.
  3. Ask about mixed flavors. Hold up the actual combination and ask before the transaction. This is faster than opening an item and disputing the receipt afterward.
  4. Watch the total. Registers may display discounts in different ways. Ask whether the promotion applied to the final amount instead of relying on one line’s appearance.
  5. Keep the receipt and products together. If the offer did not apply, resolve it at the counter before opening or preparing the food.

A useful question is 이거 원플러스원 맞나요?—“Is this buy one, get one?” For a mixed pair, show both and ask 이 두 개 같이 돼요?—“Do these two qualify together?” You do not need to explain the whole promotion in Korean.

If you only want one item, compare its ordinary price with a smaller product you will actually use. Carrying three heavy drinks around Seoul can erase the practical benefit of a deal. Buy for your group or your next meal, not just because the unit price looks lower.

Some chain apps offer ways to retain promotional items for later collection. Treat these as separate services with account, redemption and expiry conditions. Do not assume you can leave the extra item behind and collect it anywhere without successfully setting up that service. Taking all items now is simpler for a short visit.

Ice cups and drink pouches are separate things

Two separate items: check both prices before paying.

The sealed cup in the freezer may contain only ice. A drink pouch on a nearby shelf may be the liquid you pour into it. Check both prices and the cup capacity before taking them to checkout. A pictured serving suggestion does not make the cup free.

Pay for the required items first, then open and combine them in the permitted area. Pour gradually because the ice occupies space. Keep the packaging until you know where the shop wants cups, liquid and wrappers placed; never empty a drink into a dry rubbish bin. For the full visual sequence, see how to buy, open and pour pouch coffee.

For a simpler purchase, choose a ready-to-drink bottle or can. It avoids cup-size confusion and is easier to close between stops. If your goal is a snack basket rather than learning every machine, use our twelve convenience-store snack and drink picks.

Check ramen equipment before you buy

Cup noodles and packet equipment checks

A cup noodle, a bowl noodle and a packet intended for a saucepan can require different preparation. A hot-water dispenser is not the same as an automatic ramen cooker. For the full visual sequence, see how to prepare cup noodles without mixing up the steps. Confirm the equipment available in that branch before buying food you cannot prepare at your accommodation.

Follow the actual product’s instructions for water quantity, draining and any microwave use. Do not put packaging in a microwave unless the package specifically permits it. Creamy Buldak is still described as spicy by Samyang; do not choose it as a guaranteed mild meal.

Check seating and eating rules before settling down. A branch can sell hot food without offering a usable dining area, and a cooker can have its own bowl or service charge. Ask what is included before paying. Keep hot containers on a stable surface and allow them to cool before carrying them.

If payment fails, ask staff to check whether the problem is the card authorization or the promotion condition. A working foreign card does not necessarily qualify for a domestic-card bonus. Use the card and cash fallback guide and keep ordinary T-money top-ups separate from buying food.

Can I claim the extra item at another branch?

Do not assume that. Later collection depends on an applicable chain service and completed redemption setup. Without that confirmation, collect the qualifying items with your purchase.
