1. Gurumi Hanbok: best for a unique, photo-forward outfit
Gurumi lists more than 1,000 outfits and separates women’s choices into embroidered Type B and upgraded gradient or separate-skirt Type A designs. It also rents crown-prince and queen styles. The normal package includes dressing, women’s hair styling, hair accessories, a bag, petticoat and locker; men’s hairstyling is not provided.

Oneday is the cleanest value calculation: KRW 24,000 for four hours, KRW 32,000 all day or KRW 40,000 for one night and two days. Basic hair pieces, daenggi, bag and underskirt are included; special hats and a fur vest cost KRW 4,000. Every hour after the four-hour plan costs KRW 6,000.

3. Gigibebe Hanbok: best when you have a suitcase
Gigibebe is the strongest practical pick for travelers arriving with luggage. Its FAQ says clothing lockers are free and a suitcase can be held during the rental; Gyeongbokgung-branch customers take the suitcase to the first-floor second branch. Contact the shop first if your group has several cases, and keep valuables with you.
Published tiers include traditional, special, character, divided-skirt and black-label hanbok. Storage, deposits and timing
- Locker does not always mean suitcase storage. Gurumi asks two people to share a locker. Oneday says personal belongings can be stored. Gigibebe is the only one of these three whose FAQ explicitly explains large-suitcase handling.
- Keep valuables with you. Carry your phone, passport, wallet, medicine and camera unless the shop gives you a secure arrangement you accept.
- Check the deposit before changing. Oneday currently requests one passport per overseas group plus KRW 10,000 cash per person, or a passport photo plus KRW 50,000 per outfit. If you will not leave a passport, confirm the alternative in advance.
- Rental time may not equal sightseeing time. Budget 30–60 minutes for selection, changing and hair during busy periods. Ask exactly when the timer starts.
For the 10:00 Gyeongbokgung guard ceremony, arrive at the shop near opening time. A two-hour rental is tight once fitting and photos are included. Four hours is the safer minimum for the ceremony and palace; choose all day only if you also plan Bukchon, Insadong or Deoksugung and can return before the shop closes.
Free palace entry and rental cautions
The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center accepts both traditional and modernized hanbok, but you must wear a complete upper and lower set. Keep the jeogori fastened. A jeogori with jeans, a hanbok skirt with a T-shirt or only a durumagi coat over ordinary clothes does not qualify for free admission.
- Photograph the outfit and accessories before leaving if you notice an existing stain or tear.
- Ask whether hair, petticoat, bag, shoes, hat and accessories are included; “free styling” can mean only a basic option.
- Write down the exact return time and late fee. Do not assume “all day” means 24 hours.
- Wear a thin base layer and comfortable shoes. Palace courtyards are large, uneven and exposed to heat, cold or rain.
